2020Soundsystem was started as a new way of playing mixing live instruments with electronics by Ralph Lawson, original DJ at the legendary back to basics club in Leeds, and Danny ‘dubble d’ Ward. Tired of a jaded club scene they sought a different way to entertain and excite. By weaving live instruments into Lawsons DJ set, they transformed the clubbing experience into something new by giving the best of both worlds: the continuity and diversity of a DJ mix with the raw energy and excitement of seeing a live band.”

This is a website put together by a team of guys who invite various bands (acoustic/indie/folk/singer-songwriter types mostly) to various locations in Paris (bars, parks, small apartments) and video tape them playing live/acoustic. I really like the lighting, organic sounds, and sheer off-the-cuff attitude of this website’s videos. Check out the list of bands, see if you recognize some of them. NJOY NJOY.

Laraaji Nadananda is a longtime member of my ashram and a regular performer here. I saw him tonight for the first time and felt like I was rocketed to outer space. He uses the electronic zither, african mbire, piano, synthesizers, hand drums, tibetan gong, and voice in his presentations. The result is beautiful ambient spiritual electro.
