“2020Soundsystem are one of the best live bands in electronic music and have played shows to more than 20,000 people several times. They have established themselves firmly in the festival circuit as well as building up their reputation through the world of underground clubs and dirty discos. Their debut album “No Order” received best album in DJ, IDJ and Update magazines. It features two CDs, documenting their Sweatshop studios work and a second disc featuring a recording from their live performance at the hottest music festival on the planet: Sonar in Barcelona.
2020Soundsystem was started as a new way of playing mixing live instruments with electronics by Ralph Lawson, original DJ at the legendary back to basics club in Leeds, and Danny ‘dubble d’ Ward. Tired of a jaded club scene they sought a different way to entertain and excite. By weaving live instruments into Lawsons DJ set, they transformed the clubbing experience into something new by giving the best of both worlds: the continuity and diversity of a DJ mix with the raw energy and excitement of seeing a live band.”

Talking Heads – Blind (Deaf, Dub and Blind mix)
talking heads are the shit.
Stuck in my head all day….plus some AMAZING and rare interview footage with the Australian press. He doesn’t”do drugs”, just “spends all his money on them.” If you’ve never heard this classic before, listen up.
Flashing Lights is a once a month party/rave held at 88 Palace in Chinatown(east broadway) which is huge dim sum restaurant converted into a glowstik/juice fest. These guys have been building a serious name and special guests in attendance have been from Mehdi to Klever and dave one(dubwar-nyc). Still running on the serious underground mailing lists, with an amazing and sexyass crowd, I highly suggest this mix. House+Disco+Techno+Rave they call themselves and certainly don’t dissapoint. If your in the NYC area tonite come decide with me between this and Dubwar, both going late.

I don’t know if you want call this one danceable or bangerish; but its a f*kin dayum good perfect example of a clean mashup from some of my favorties names. Supposedly some tell it, the former (“Your Love”) served as an influence for the latter (“My Girls”) but who knows with the Animal collective. Anyway listen for the great oscillating lines/voices throughout the song with minimal effects editing, works perfectly.

“DC Recordings is one of those labels for hardcore music nerds. Name-dropped by everybody from Simian Mobile Disco to Pedro Winter, DC makes music that is out there; from spacey techno and shimmering krautrock to wobbly, weirdo disco, their discography boasts releases with titles like Revenge of the Iron Ferret, The Madness of Moths and, rather cheekily, Coney Island Baby and Let It Bleed. Higamos Hogamos is one of DC’s newest signings, and their eponymously titled debut, as you might expect, is also out there. A glam space adventure, Higamos Hogamos pits human pomp against the mystery of the universe, with guitar solos space-strutting through the infinite void. “Major Blitzkrieg” is the album’s lead single”

from camp bisco 6: “Zach Velmer along with Marc Brownstein, Simon Posford, and Aron Magner will perform at Camp Bisco as The New Originals. This one time only, all improvised set is guaranteed to be a highlight of this coming weekends festivities. Marc, Aron, and Zach have shown their chemistry before in the short lived super group Suckapunch, and are joining together for the first time since then with world renowned musician and producer Simon Posford.”
This 1-off gem came together during the afternoon set of The Disco Biscuits at Camp Bisco VI (Indian Lookout Country Club) on 2007-08-17. There is also a shpongle set break from the same day if anyone wants it(but i personally think the 2008 recording of ShpongleDJ at bisco is much is better.)

“Streetlab might bring to mind old-school bigbeat acts like the Chemical Bros and Crystal Method, but their sound is all their own with a harder and four-four rock rhythm which is straight up for dancing. You can hear it in the stuff they produce as well as in their choice and style of remixes. It comes as no surprise that their SELEKTOR mix is tinged with their own recuts of some pretty big rock tracks as well as original tracks from their new EP.”

Discovered this one courtesy of Caeli. Couldn’t find much info on guy except hes been tearing up the west coast and his myspace tags: Jungle / Hip Hop / Grime – Leeds/Birmingham, United Kingdom. Regardless this stuff is pretty danketysauce. I’m loving all the new takes or genre bending of the dub world that keep on coming.
