Here is the initial line-up for Camp Bisco 8, taking place July 16-18 at Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY! SICKK!
From spinner.com:
The Disco Biscuits will return to the rolling fields of Mariaville, NY, this summer (July 16-18) for the eighth annual Camp Bisco — a three-day camping music festival which they both headline and curate. As always, the line-up is an extension of the Disco Biscuits sound, which brings together electronica and jam rock. In addition to no less than five Disco Biscuits sets throughout the event, Sound Tribe Sector Nine (STS9) will perform on two consecutive nights, and additional artists include Chromeo, the Orb, Dr. Dog, Damian Marley and Nas, K’Naan, and Pretty Lights.
This year also features a late-night dance tent with different theme nights. The “DFA Disco Tent” will house a set by Special Disco Version (featuring James Murphy and Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem). Twisted Records will host the other theme night where Younger Brother is scheduled for a rare live-instrument show, along with an equally rare double DJ set by Shpongle (Simon Posford vs. Raja Ram). As always, there will be a band-certified color war and the sights, sounds and smells of what the campers so lovingly refer to as “Bisco.”

Charles, Jamfish and I have something very big in the works for our upcoming birthday weekend. We’re throwing a massive warehouse party in Brooklyn to raise money for Hollis Hawthorne, an incredible, innovative artist, dancer, and long-time Burning Man worker who was hit by a bus on February 28th while riding a motorbike in India. She has been in a coma ever since, and her friends and the Burning Man community have raised over $100,000 to transport her back to the states and for medical expenses. She seems to be improving slowly and is opening her eyes, responding to stimuli, making verbal noises and moving fingers and toes on command. She is currently at St. Luke’s hospital in San Francisco and the goal is to raise $200,000 for her complete rehabilitation and care.
The story has completely captivated us as we’ve learned of the beauty of this person and about the incredible response from her friends and the entire tribe. Amazingly intelligent and spiritual people surround her with hope and prayer and complete strangers are throwing fundraisers and donating all they can. You must read the words of her boyfriend and friends, they are heart-wrenching and inspirational. It is a moving testament to this great woman and the huge, powerful family that she is a part of.
If you are a band, DJ, artist, dancer, hula hooper, glowstick raver, psi ball/fire performer, painted girl, or do any other performance art, let us know ASAP. The date will be either May 1st (night before Shpongle), or the weekend before, on Saturday April 25th. This will be a huge event, around 500-1000 people, so exposure is a guarantee. It will be eclectic, cheap and all inclusive at the door. We’ll have a bar but entry is 18+. Bring everyone you know… there’s something for everyone here. More info to come but again, if you are a performing act, please let us know ASAP.
There is a blog with updates on her progress and links to more information: http://friendsofhollis.blogspot.com
Please forward this to anyone you think should know and might want to help.
